I tried disabling my firewall and anti-virus programs and it installs fine, but it won't connect to create any partnership on my inspiron laptop. Same with over bluetooth...I've also tried 3.8 and 4.0/4.1 and nothing

any ideas............

You need to add the TCP and UDP services to your firewall. There is a writeup in www.microsoft.com and listed the ports. Then you can sync your x51v with the pc.

FINALLY... its working.... its workinnnnnng!!!!

remember when little Anakin Skywalker was starting up his podracer for the first time and he yelled that out...episode I it was...

anyway, for some reason, my x51v showed up in my network places on this laptop. i enabled all 3 settings, TCP, Client..., and file sharing...and it sync'ed right up.

You might try uninstalling the firewall. I also tried the same without any success until I actually uninstalled the firewall. Then everything sync'd fine. That leaves the problem of what to do about the firewall....
