Can't Explore device in Active Sync

When my PC finishes syncing I click on Explore and the C: of my PC pops up. In the past the Axim file system would display like it's supposed to. Everything else in Active Sync works OK. Anybody seen this?

You don't say which PPC or AS version you are using or how you are syncing (USB, IR, BT, WiFi...). In PPCs prior to WM5, there was a check box to stay connected after syncing. Unfortunately, I don't have my older PPCs running so I cannot give you the location, but it is from inside AS on the PPC.

I'm running WM5.0 on an Axim51v. I'm syncing by USB. I don't see any settings I can change on the PPC. As I said, I was once able to browse the PPC while connected but no more.

Well, the option I discussed above isn't on WM5. I have no trouble using the 'explore' option so I'm at a loss (although I use BT, not USB). Maybe someone else will have some ideas.

without AS explore option ...

couldn't you just go into desktop's windows explorer and access the "mobile device" folder ???

I wasn't going to confuse the issue by throwing multiple scenarios in the post but, no, I don't see the the mobile device in Windows Explorer anymore either.

The problem appears to be w/ the desktop PC because w/ my laptop I can hookup and browse the PPC. On the desktop I went into active sync's File menu and selected delete mobile device. It then restored all the settings on the next sync but still no mobile device.

OK, I reinstalled AS 4.1 on the desktop and it's working again altough I have to reboot the PC when I'm finished typing this.

@avux06

I'm having the same issue as well, mobile devices disappeared from Explorer and I can't explore the device. Haven't tried reinstalling AS, that was my last option. Did you uninstall AS first or just reinstall it over the current version?

Thanks,
B

Why would that be your last option? Not like anything would be lost. Its only takes a couple of minutes. REINSTALL.

I have experienced the same problem the last days, although it use to works fine before, I cannot see my mobile ppc anymore.
I did install MSN Beta few days ago, and that might be the problem, I am unable to uninstall it.
I relly do not know how to get back my device thru explore or my computer, any idea ?
Thanks

I had the same problem after installing a couple of Windows and Office patches. Re-installing ActiveSync 4.1 with the Repair option solved the problem.

I have the same problem and couldn't solve it yet.
My situation: I purchased a Axim X51v last year and installed AS 4.0 on a Dell PC (OS=XP HOME). They worked very well.
Last month, I purchased another brand new Dell Inspiron E1505(OS=XP MEDIA CENTER 2005) and tried to install AS4.0(also tried to upgrade to 4.1) on it. After installation and connection, the AS status window on pc was performing 'connecting' at all time but couldn't connected.
If checked with 'My Computer', I could see the 'Mobile Device' there but it was blank once open it.
Headache!
