Aximsiteactivesyncicon Sync starts, then stops before doing anything

Hi

I'm attempting to do WiFi syncing on my X30hi (Rom 6) using AS 3.8. When I select "Sync" from the PDA it does some thinking and then the desktop active sync disk goes green and starts spinning saying "Connecting...", then it stops.

Any ideas why please? I have read and re-read the WiFi syncing FAQ and FWIW did have this working once (about a year ago) but have since reinstalled everything after about 6 months of not using the device

My fault finding:
  • I have "Downgraded" to active sync 3.8 (and rebooted)
  • It Syncs fine on USB
  • Windows firewall is off
  • There is no other firewall type software on the machine
  • I've tried with Norton AV disabled
  • Netbios enabled under tcp/ip on the host
  • Within AS under File -> Connection Settings I've enabled the "allow remote access" option
  • Can ping the host name from the PDA
  • PDA has external internet access using the WiFi connection
  • I Can use the remote desktop tool on the PDA
  • I am using the Dell WLAN util to connect
  • "My network card connects to" -> "Work"
  • Connects->connections->advanced->select networks -> both set to "My work network"

In the ActiveSync options on your PDA, there should be an option to 'disconnect after sync' or some such. Uncheck that option, and you shouldn't disconnect again.

Thanks but it's not that (I have that option checked/unchecked to retain the connection anyway).

It doesn't seem to actually *finish* connecting, e.g it doesn't sync.

It starts the conenction process but does not sync.
