Aximsiteactivesyncicon Active Sync fails with support code 0x80072EFF and 0x80072EFD

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie when it comes to pocket PCs and am having trouble with getting active sync to work between my x51v and PC.

My x51v ROM version is A06. I'm using WM5 and ActiveSync 4.1.

My problems and observations described below:

Problem:

I have no problem getting my x51v connected to the PC and I can explore the device via Active Sync (PC). The problem is with synchronizing and I am not connecting to any Exchange Servers.

- When it comes to synchronizing items such as Calendar, Contacts, etc, Active Sync (PC) simply hangs at "Synchronizing" but it really isn't synchronizing at all, i.e. the Active Sync icon at the system tray just keeps spinning forever. When I check Active Sync (x51v), it gives me the support code of 0x80072EFF and sometimes 0x80072EFD. The Result says: "The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporary network conditions".
- If I choose not to include any items to synchronize, Active Sync (x51v) shows successful synchronization. However, Active Sync (PC) still hangs at "Synchronizing".
- If I click "Stop" button in Active Sync (PC) regardless of whether I have picked any item to synchronize, the button just gets greyed out. I can't initiate another synchronize thereafter. I'd have to turn off or remove my x51v so that Active Sync gets disconnected in order to start another synchronization attempt.
- I get the same results of the above whether I synchronized through cradle or Bluetooth.

Observations:

- Active Sync on x51v and PC does not correspond to each other. When they are initially connected, both showed "Connecting" then "Synchronizing". However, as the synchronization ends (regardless of success or failure), x51v goes into "Waiting for Network" and PC still remains in "Synchronizing".
- Active Sync pass-through seems to be working. I.e., I am able to surf the net on my x51v when connected to PC using my cradle. Have not tested Bluetooth through.
- I installed vxUtil and am able to ping the PC that my x51v is connected to, both by IP address and Computer Name.

Troubleshooting steps I have taken so far with no success:

- Reinstalled ActiveSync 4.1 then connect x51v to PC. Have done this multiple times.
- Disabled Norton Antvirus. I do not have any other software firewalls installed and Windows firewall is disabled.
- Reinstalled Outlook 2003 and have attempted successful repair.
- Hard-reset my x51v.

Appreciate if anyone can offer any help, I've been working on this for almost 2 full days and it's driving me nuts. I've gone through the forums but still can't find a solution.

Having the exact same problem, but with a T-Mobile MDA. Have you found any solution?

Thanks...

Having same issue on another Dell Axim x51v, but sync PC does not even have Outlook. Just not able to traverse the PC to the Internet to hit any sites or the exchange web site. This just started a couple of weeks ago and I thought I have fixed it by entering static IPs in the Remote-NDIS Host network card settings:

IP Address 169.254.2.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 169.254.2.2

But now these settings have no effect. I can see the sync PC in WM5 Explorer and I can see the Axim from Explorer on the sync PC. I just can't get past the sync PC from the Axim.

Anyone have any suggestions?

When I try to sync Active Sync opens, starts connecting and then has 'syncronizing error and quits. I am able to explore my PDA.
And then on my PDA I get "A problem has occurred with repllog.exe
This has been going on for several days. I was able to sync in Windows Vista with no problem. The problem occurs in Windows XP.

I fixed my problem by doing a reinstall of ActiveSync 4.2. I had the BETA version installed and reinstalled over it with the released version. Didn't have to do any uninstall or reboot or anything. I did leave my Axim out of the cradle until the install was complete then inserted it and it worked!

I do still have the static IP info entered (mentioned above) and am just going to leave well-enough alone for now!

Hope this helps some of you...

Aximsiteactivesyncicon ActiveSync Support Code:85030011

Fellow frustrated users I have worked out this issue. What happens is if you restore your computer or change files or link to another computer, Activesync creates multiple datasets on the device which must confuse the program.

With the phone disconnected from the computer, open Programs, ActiveSync, Menu, Options. If you use the scroll down bar, you will find all the datasets. I deleted all the datasets and let ActiveSync create a fresh connection.

Synchronisation issue solved!

Good Luck
