Active Sync changes screen resolution

I have just bought an Axim X51v. After I loaded activesync onto my desktop, the resolution on my monitor reverts to the lowest resolution at start up. I am using XP sp2.

I have deactivated activesync at start up (through msconfig) - and it still happens. I have also removed and re-loaded the program more than once.

I had an X50 and the same thing was going on - though I was able to avoid it by unplugging the cradle to CPU USB connection. I also stopped it by deactivating it at start up. Those thing don't work with active sync 4.1

Has anyone heard of this problem? I have been to numerous support lines (Dell/MS/Geeksquad) and no-one seems to know what I can do.

Help? Any ideas out there?

so .. why you cannot rightclick on your screen and go into the display settings and change the resolution back ??

are you telling me that even if you'd change it back to higher resolution after that initial time that activesync will put it back into lower resolution EACH & EVERYTIME you reboot ??

might be just a glitch somehow due to display drivers initially ... but like I'd said ... why not just re-adjust it yourself ??

That is exactly what I am saying - I readjust it, and it it does change back each and every time I reboot!

If I had to chage it once, it wouldn't be a problem - having to change it every time is a frustration - to say the least.

sorry about your frustration ... that's a new one to me ... never heard of that one

have you tried getting the latest driver for your specific monitor ?

I've read where others are having AS issue after XP update itself with fixes automatically ... but never heard of the screen resolution problem though.

Thanks. I'll try the monitor driver.

Someone else suggested the video drivers. Do you think that could work?

Are u using the default res of 1024x768 on the xp sp2 pc. A custom config of the res could confuse as, maybe.

Thanks for your suggestions - something has to eventually work --- doesn't it??

I thought I was using that default. I'll go in again and have another look.

Thanks
