Device name conflict

I just started using my x51v and have a few problems. :rolling: Whenever I put the device in the cradle, I get a message on my desktop that says "Mobile device name conflict, do you want to rename this device?" If I don't, I can't synch. If I do, I need to keep coming up with other names.

I used the "safe removal" icon before I take the device out of the cradle. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Try deleting previous device names by going to File - Delete partnership when the device is not on the cradle. Delete every device name you have used, and then you should be able to re-create the original partnership again.

the only time that I have to go through the "safely removing hardware device icon by the clock" is with other USB devices ( flashdrive..MP3 player...etc)

as far as the cradle connected through the USB ... it is not in anyway related to the icon .. I have no idea why you need to go through that route ( unless you've never successfully installed Activesync and go through the necessary steps to let the desktop recognized the devive during the initial installation of ActiveSync )

... because if successful ... the Axim connected through the cradle through USB doesn't register as a hardware connection but as a network connection only !

and for the device name conflict ... follow what Gigi has said :approve:
