Mad ActiveSync keeps turning my Axim when connected via USB

I've done the fake server thing so that now when my axim (x51v) is not connected I don't drain the battery.

Today I'm at work and I needed to charge my axim so I plugged it into the computer USB port. Now, I know that unlike my old x3 the x51v will not charge unless the power is off, so I plugged it in to the USB port, did a sync and then turned off my axim thinking the battery would charge. Sure enough the charge light came on and I was happy.

Unfortunately every little while ActiveSync comes to life and turns on my Axim so the battery doesn't charge.

Can anyone tell me how I can stop ActiveSync from activating? I guess I'd be happy with a manual sync, so I only sync when I really want to.

Thanks.

When your axim is connected via the USB, activesync is always on and will periodically look to sync with your axim. The only way to stop the sync is to fully poweroff your axim. You must fully poweroff the axim, not just press the power button once. You can configure it where if you hold down your power button on the x51v for a few seconds, it will fully powerdown the axim.

I thought that might be the only option. OK, thanks for confirming.

Actually, it's really simple to right-click the activestink icon, then go to "connection settings" then uncheck the "allow USB connections." It works!

When you're ready to sync, re-check it, then un-check it again! Simple and easy - my favorite fix.

Another thing you may want to try is to turn your axim on, place it in the cradle, and then press the power button before your computer has a chance to identify it fully (evident from small computer symbol in your taskbar shortly after you place it in the cradle). This was suggested somewhere else on Aximsite and it works well. Just remember to check for the little computer which appears in your taskbar as you place your axim in the cradle and to power your axim off via the power button prior to the little computer in the taskbar from disappearing.

Good luck!

That actually occured to me and I tried it. At home I have the USB button unchecked and when I plug in my Axim I actually have to tell ActiveSync to connect before a sync, but when I tried it at work it didn't work for some reason. It kept activating. I can't explain it
