What did you say in your post? Was there something offensive that would cause a moderator to delete it?

Any post/thread you made yesterday morning is gone and I can see three possible explanations:

1) A mod deleted it;
2) There was a server glitch and it never actually made it into the database;
3) You never actually finished the post by clicking the “Submit New Thread” or “Submit Reply” before doing something else in your browser

I think the first is unlikely. The mods have rules about how to handle posts if they think there is a problem and outright deleting them is not the correct practice (we have a place for putting offensive posts and yours is not there).

At this point, you should just enter it again.

ActiveSync 4.1- Excel files not opening

I guess I'll try to explain my problem again.
After I had updated ActiveSync 4.0 to 4.1 a problem accured when my Axim5 synced with my pc. My Excel document was fine on my pc but when I opened that same document on my ppc, it gave me a blank worksheet with text at the top saying: This sheet is a placeholder for a unsupported sheet type. In properties of the file indicates that there is information in that document but will not open. After about a week later the document on the pc become corrupted also. Is there a way to get back the information in that document? I'm using Pocket PC 2002 and Excel 2000

Two things you can try to get the information back -

1. You can try to open the Excel file in Microsoft Word --- Yes I know that seems like a stupid thing to do, but trust me it works. You loose a lot of the formating, but you'll get your data back.

2. Download Open Office and try to open the excel file with that ... if it will open, resave it (as a new file) and you should be able to get back to it in Excel again...

If neither of those work - you might be up a creek and sinking.

Pocket Excel doesn't support everything Office Excel can produce. Sad but true.

I finally got the corrupted file to open in Word but unfortunately it showed a blank file. I did try to open a good document with Word and it did open but the format wasn't correct. I think I lost all my info on that document. I'm afraid to sync my documents knowing this is going to happen again. Wish I could go back to ActiveSync 4.0. I try to keep up with the software updates but in this case, I should of left well enough alone.

You need to disable active sync file conversion. This problem exisits in 4.1 and earlier versions. Go to Tools/Options/Rules/File conversion Settings and clear the check box.

You may be the victim of a glitch in the original file, or it may be that when you opened it via PExcel, it was marked as changed, and you synced the bogus copy onto your desktop.

Also, the message board servers have glitched me out a couple of times. Not surprising, considering the traffic here and the fact that I use a Flintstones computer at work.

What I ended up doing was to uninstall 4.1 and then reinstall 3.8. I haven't had that problem since. Unfortuneatly i did loose an Excel file. Glad it wasn't the complete folder.
