First, I would like to say that I have not visited this forum in about as long as I have not synchronized my X5 (yes, X5) with my computer, which is about 8 months. I have not been able to sync via USB for almost 2 years due to broken/bent/missing pins on both the Ax's connector and the cable itself. About the same time we got our wireless network at home, a bit over 2 years ago, I started using Wi-fi to regularly sync my Axim with my laptop, because it was easier and faster - remember, only USB 1.1. So anyway, a couple days ago, I decided to sync again. I donwloaded AS4.1 (and was suprised to note, I might add, that the non-beta version number had only increased by 0.3 in about 8 months) and installed it. I then created a partnership using IR, which is how I did it even when the USB cable worked. After that, I disconnected my Axim, and tried to sync via Wi-fi. After about 15 seconds I got the message on my Axim saying it could not establish a connection. I looked to see that the remote-syncing computer was the correct one. I then looked under ActiveSync's settings where I remembered in v3.8 there were settings for synchronizing remotely. But they were not to be found. Anyone have any advice/help/sympathy to offer?

P.S. I am going to order an X51v in about 20 minutes.

Yes, it's gone in AS 4.x. Keep in mind you are required to use version 4.x with WM5.

Don't quote me but I thibk AS 4.x versions DON'T support sync over Wi-fi. Can anyone confirm me on this?

Yes, Gigi confirmed it 7 minutes before your post. :)

gadgetnerd, before you bother downgrading back to 3.8, if you are getting an X51v, you may as well stick with 4.1 since WM5 requires AS 4.0 or above to sync with the PC. You are basically SOL as far as WiFi syncing is concerned.

I'm considering an upgrade from my x3i with bent pins - that's why ....

yes bot only with versions of AS prior to 4.0
