WiFi Syncing, Installing, and Partnerships

I need to install an application on my wife’s X50. I have several problems:

1. We can’t find the data cable.
However, we have a home network, so I'm hoping to do it wirelessly.

2. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to successfully connect to our home network with the X50.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. If I can't get that working, perhaps I could do an ad-hoc link with the PC instead (it has a wireless adapter, like the X50 itself). Is it possible to sync over an ad-hoc connection?
I’d appreciate it if someone pointed me to some step-by-step instructions for setting up either a regular or ad-hoc connection.

3. I’m not sure if there is still an established partnership set up between the PC and the X50.
The X50 crashed recently and may have obliterated the partnership. Can I use a guest partnership to do this?

1) Wireless sync section of the WiFi Guide.

2) In theory you can but it's a lot more difficult to get a working ad-hoc connection.

3) No, but you can establish a partnership with an IR or BT connection if you have either of these features on your PC (and, in fact, can use either of these for installing the app).
