If I try to sync with Wisbar Advanced 2 open I get an error. If I close it, then try to sync, everything works fine. If I open WA2 while the Axim is in the cradle it will continue to sync. But if I have WA2 running while I put it in the cradle, I get an error every time.

This is becoming a daily struggle for me since upgrading to 4.2 with my new x51v. Prior to this, with WM2003SE, I was still using 3.8 and I had no problems. Now I never know when I will sync and when I will not. The only thing stopping me from throwing in the towel is my Exchange servers will still connect and sync although my AS tells me I have a synchronization error.

Anyone else getting daily Synchronization error? I'm tempted to ask work to reimage my workstation. I'vew installed and uninstalled a lot of programs and I am still definitely seeing ghosts from all this...

Which weather app. did you have? I love my PocketWeather. I'd hate to deautomate it! My synchs have quit working reliably only in the last month or two. I've had the PocketWeather installed for over six months!

Well, in the PocketWeather Comm section under "settings", I unchecked the "AutoUpdate" boxes, and now the Axim can synch again! Is this cooincidence?

I'll try it again tonight on my 2nd (home) PC to see if it that synchs, too.

This has sure been a royal, unpredictable Pain in the Butt. I cannot recommend this gizmo to anyone who requires reliability and doesn't want to spend most waking hours trying to achieve it.

Well, my home (2nd) computer synched right away since I disabled the "autoupdate" in PocketWeather. I wonder if PocketWeather people are aware of their conflict with ActiveSynch? I wonder if this is the "whole problem" or if something else is lurking out there. I'm getting paranoid.

Here is an update: While both my work and my home computer synched fine last night after I disabled PocketWeather, I came into work this morning to synch on my work computer and it would not connect.

This now leads me to believe perhaps the problem is not associated with PocketWeather EXCLUSIVELY. It has become so unpredictable.

I finally activated my MemMaid and cleaned out a bunch of junk and soft reset again.

Now it is synching fine again. I turned on my PocketWeather "autoupdate" back on and everything works again.

I think these Axim gizmos can stand only so much stuff on them before they gum up and become dysfunctional. We'll see how long this "fix" works. Stay tuned.

Now a day later, at my home computer, Axim will not connect again. After unchecking the Pocket Weather "autoupdate" and a soft reset, it connected and sank, err, synched. In the meantime, the SBSH Pocket Weather people sent me an update 1.3.5 thinking that might help. I downloaded and installed. We'll see if that makes any difference. Stay yet tuned again.

Sorry I haven't checked back on this thread for a while.

Basically, I have no programs auto-updating. I have a today screen PIM, launcher, and weather.

On the X50v with WM2003, I get a good A/S about 2 out of 3 times. If the connection doesn't work first try, I soft reset (in the cradle or in my hand if I was trying Bluetooth) and try again. It always works after a soft reset.

I have no such problem with my X51v.

I've kept all my suggestions from earlier in this posts, which definitely helps. But WM2003 seems to get a weggie after a while, no matter how clean you are living.

Since disabling the autoupdate on Pocket Weather, I am having a much better time at syncing; howver, it is still not 100%. I am still getting errors. It's a little frustrating that my x50v wqas fairly stable over a bout a year and I can't seem to do the same with my x51. I guess I need to remember it took me about 6 months to get that stable load...

The supreme test was to have the Ax synch on both of my computers without hangups or soft boots. As of this morning, it accomplished that - first time I've had a clean connection on both computers in many weeks.

What worked for me: Make sure your Pocket Weather is updated to at least 1.3.5 and the "autoupdate" is not checked. The autoupdate does not have to be checked for it to autoupdate the forecast when cradled. (I don't know what autodupdate actually does - I've had it checked before, but apparently it is not necessary and not good - like an appendics getting appendicitis) .

Good luck.

It worked fine for three days (18th through 21st). Now this morning, it will not connect or synch once again! The only changes I made were to delete several duplicate entries in my contact list. I rebooted both the computer and the Ax. I ran the cleaning cycle on Memmaid. Checked to assure the "autoupdate" on PocketWeather was unchecked. Still no connection. This is extremely irritating.:realmad:

I'm now at my work computer...and it will not connect here, either. This is the question: Why will the d--n thing work perfectly for three or four days, and then, without changing anything (directly by the user) it quits connecting to either of two different computer systems?

If its the firewall(s), why did it first work? The firewalls haven't changed.
PocketWeather has "autoupdate" turned off.
The system is cleaned out via MemMaid
The latest version if ActiveSync is working no better or worse than the previous version.

I'm wondering if the Connection/synch problem has something to do with my Spb Backup program. I have it set to back up every three days in the middle of the night. There is some correlation between these backup intervals and when the device fails to connect.

What thinkest ye?

I turned off the auto back up for this exact reason. Same interval and every 3 days it wouild not play nice. I think I back up more now since I know it doesn't do it by itself.

I know I had lots of problems synching when I let Spb Backup do automated backups.
My home PC was rebooting during the night - I had multiple events happening at roughly the same time. We've since replaced all the innards of my home PC ... and now my X50v when it stopped connnecting at all any where.

I haven't set up automated backups again ... yet.
Once both systems are stable, I know I will try it again. Until then, I'm setting a task to remind me to backup every two days.
