Activesync issue Used to work with cradle and/or cable now nothing 1. upgraded activesync to 4.0 then 4.1 then 4.2 same issue 2. with each upgrade"new hardware" is recognized 3. shows up as a network adapter 4. Activesync NEVER connects or even finds my Axim51v 5. No error codes just the big box that says to rconnect and try again 6. Tried to use the connect feature in ActiveSync it just searches all the ports with no luck 7. only using windows firewall and it is in the exception list. I am no advanced user but I can follow instructions any ideas? Ive been reading thread after thread after thread.......Looks like there are tons of variations of similar issues yet none that fix mine ![]()

Sorry I can't help you but I will follow this thread as I am having pretty much the same sort of trouble. There are a lot of problems and solutions in this forum but they either don't apply or don't help.
I really don't want to "hard reset" but if someone comes back and says that is the only solution then so be it.

i feel your pain, ppl. I'm still waiting for a solution to the problem. Still holding back on hitting the hard reset key. Done it twice already. don't want to do more unnecessarily.

There are many causes, here are my favorites. If you search you will find others.
1) Plug your cable into the PC and do not use an external Hub 2) With the Axim plugged in make sure that network adapter is enabled 3) Turn off all firewalls, and virus checkers 4) Reboot the PC with the axim on and in the cradle 5) There was a Hotfix that possibly broke activesync sorry don't know which one try to google for activesync hotfix or look on the Microsoft Activesync help page.

Try this...

Yeah, it's in French, but download the USBKiller onto your unit, set it to serial and see if AS works for you.

I've found that some of those programs reset options that I had previously set a certain way - so what had worked at one time quit working until I dug around and found what was changed (firewall changed a setting on one of the updates). I can't help you on specifics with your problem, but don't assume that all the settings on your AVG, firewalls, and spyware programs remain assigned as you originally set them.

The little bit of french that I read says it is for SMARTPHONES running wm5 The sreenshot looks like it is for using a SERIAL port. My toshiba only has USB. Still try it? ![]()

Serial is the connection on the PDA... think of the sync cable as a serial to usb converter.
I would try it. If it's not WM2003 compatible it will tell you quickly. Or turn it into a paperweight, in which case I'd return it for warranty service.

Well Hmmmmmm...........
I can tell you all that I have uninstalled AS and reinstalled it. I borrowed a cradle (Dell still hasn't sent me mine) it works in the cradle but refuses to sync up with a cable..... Isn't a cradle just a blocky fancy cable??

I have twice had this problem. The first after upgrading Activsync, the second after installing Norton Antivirus (which caused other problems requiring me to reinstall Actisync) The solution that worked for me was to open the Local Area Connection properties for the device under Network Connections and check the 3 boxes 'Client for Microsoft Network', 'File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks' and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'. I believe I found this advice somewhere in these forums. Hope this helps.
