Trouble W/ ActiveSync - Read This Post!!!

Ok, through several hard resets and many soft resets I finally have pass through for ActiveSync and Windows Mobile 5 figured out. This might be wordy, but for anyone having difficulties using pass through it’s worth it to read. 1st of all do not mess at all w/ the settings in the network card or connections at all. ActiveSync will set everything automatically when you sync. If you mess w/ the settings like I did at 1st it will never work. Here’s how it does work. The connections are assigned to your Axim via DHCP. The reason it works then you get an error message like page not found or some other is because each time you close your internet connection on your desktop PC you must also go to control panel, network connections and disable your Axim connection. When you reconnect to the internet you then go to control panel, network connections and enable the Axim connection. ActiveSync will sync the connection giving you pass through and internet access w/ the Axim. You can be online w/ both the desktop and the Axim at the same time or 1 or the other. As long as you remember to disable the Axim connection after each time you disconnect the connection from your desktop and enable it after each time you reconnect from your desktop. This lets the ActiveSync do its job of assigning everything through DHCP, it has to aquire the addresses each time you connect to the internet, and it works perfectly. Have not had a bit of trouble since waking from my coma and figuring it out!!! Hope all goes as smoothly for anyone reading this post…

None of the above. AS has worked for me on on both my home and work PC's for the past 31/2 years with NO problems. Syncs first time every time. Currently using version 4.2 beta on my Axim X50v with no problems at all.

I never really use it unless I have to. I dont sync stuff with my axim. I download stuff onto my axim over wifi, cabs, music, etc.

You are absolutely right. The problem was not within ActiveSync, but rather in my dial up connection. I still have ancient dial up w/ Earthlink and the Earthlink Accelerator. The trouble is ActiveSync hates the accelerator. I have since manually configured a dial up connection using the same access number, but not using the task panel connection w/ accelerator. My Axim x50v, love it, and ActiveSync 4.1 sync smoothly now 1st time every time, no more trouble at all... :approve:

Really, none of the above.
I am using 4.1 on my lap top and desktop computers and it works fine most of the time.
