Add/Remove Programs Keeps Popping up on Sync

I snyc to 2 pc's. Everytime I connect to my laptop, Add/Remove Programs pops up when activesync is started when I connect my x51v. I am using ver 4.2 and had the same problem with 4.0/4.1 Also, I did remove and reinstall with the same problem. Any ideas?

Are you removing and reinstalling activesync42? or the program you last installed?
It happened to me once before. I was installing a game without even having my pda in it's cradle. Setup files just copied over and activesync set it to install next time I synced. After that, the add/remove screen popped up everytime I synced up.
It wasn't fixed until I uninstalled the game from both my desktop and pda and reinstalled.
It might help.

I'm not trying to install anything.... well at least not that I know of. I guess my next hard reset would fix the problem

A hard reset may not solve the problem since it's coming from the PC side. Can you identify which program it is trying to install? Just uninstall it from the PC side to stop the messages. Or just follow the prompts and hit Cancel whenever possible, or install it and then uinstall it. This type of problem shouldn't require a hard reset.

Here is the thing, its not trying to install a program. The screen just pops up. The only program I have install on this pc is MS .NET CF 2.0. Which was installed after this problem happen...

So I uninstalled .NET 2.0 thru the Add/Remove Programs. Reinstalled the program thru the same program. Same thing. Every time I sync to this one pc, Add/Remove pops up.

I can live with it for now. I want to do a hard reset but waiting on Dell for a firmware update because everytime I do a hardrest, they come out with an upgrade the next week. I will uninstall activesync and remove all reg settings before I do the hardreset to make sure the PC doesn't bring back the problem...hmmm I think I will uninstall acticesync again but delete all reg setting and see what happens.

thanks

Stephen

have you done a hard reset before? try deleting your partnership and making a new one before you do that. just incase. hell, it's a shot in the dark, but it may work..

I think you should try deleting the Partnership.

How to stop it?

My computer crashed and needed the hard drive rebuilt. When I reinstalled my Axim, somehow, the add/remove window comes up wanting to either reinstall all my software to the Axim, or remove it. I don't need to do EITHER. How can I get rid of this window without getting rid of any programs? thanks.

Get Rid Of Add/remove!!

I found the answer using Google: http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/s/0086.asp

Essentially, you go into regedit to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AutoStartOnConnect
Locate and delete the String value CEAppMgr from the right and pane and exit Regedit, then restart the computer.

Hey, there's a far more easy way to recover the problem: Try the program call ActiveTweak, it can do the hack for you instead of go to the registry. It can be found in http://pocketpcapps.net/activetweak.aspx
