First Sync not using USB Port

Hi,

I have broken the pins on my connector and want to sync using bluetooth, but I don't know how to create the inital connection with Activesync without using the USB port.

Is there a way to do it or do I have to find a different syncing program?

My x3i got bended pins but I did the very first sync to my home PC with IR.
Afterwards I use wifi to sync.
Works fine on my old system.

Congratulations on your first post

Well I have actually broken some pins off too so I have pretty much destroyed the connection. I looked at replacing the part but just too expensive from Australia.

Does that mean if you can do it by IR the first time it can be done by Bluetooth as well??

Thanks

My axim syncs with my desktop at home. Once when away, I felt a dire need to transfer a document from my laptop to the axim. I was able to establish a bluetooth connection and sync with the laptop without the usb cable. Yes, it can be done, establishing the relationship and all.

Good luck,
Gary

IMO, there is a setup difference in transferring a (single) document and doing a toal sync via AS.
I don't think that the initial connection to AS can be done via BT.
The only options are USB or IR for the FIRST connection - but I could be wrong ...

For further information you may have a look at these excellent AximSite articles.

I just took my own medicine:

ActiveSync Tutorial
http://www.aximsite.com/articles/link.php?id=247

states that

6)* Activesync cannot create a partnership using WIFI

which includes BT ...

Tell me if I'm wrong, please ...

USB, BT and IR are all fine for the first sync.

"kking - Well I have actually broken some pins off too so I have pretty much destroyed the connection"

If the broken pins are located at the ends of the connector there is still hope.
There seems to be redundancy - some of the pins are used for the same purpose - (power ?)

Why not try a watchmaker ?
It works in my case - even with missing pins.
