A new way to solve an old ActiveSync problem

So, here is the problem I had: My Axim X50v would connect via activesync fine (didn't matter what version of ActiveSync I used 3.7 to 4.1). Then, after a few seconds, the connection would die. When I looked in the activesync log, it would always say "terminated by user." I tried soft resets, hard resets, shutting down all security software on my desktop, and just about eveything else. Nothing worked. I even got Dell to send me a new Axim (my old one had other problems as well).

Finally, I attempted a hard reset and then set up a new partnership with my virgin Dell (no restore done at all). It activesynced reliably 100% of the time!

So, I then used Sprite to restore my files, but I told it not to restore my e-mail or personal files - just the system data.

Boom. 100% reliable activesyncing. I then restored my phonebook, etc from the desktop.

I guess I am wondering if some of the other Activesync problems here could be solved in this manner.
