Recovery From Data Loss

Hello, a couple weeks ago, my Axim x50 was left on and the battery drained. I lost all info, but luckily had a backup from March on my CF card. I restored the backup and connected back up to my PC so my current calendar in outlook could put my newer appointments on the Axim, but instead the desktop calendar was erased back to March. What did I do wrong?

Now, I'm getting ready to reformat my desktop PC because of hardware issues and I'm afraid when I try to sync to my Axim, it might erase my calendar again. How do I make sure this doesn't happen again?

Thanks for any help.

Check to make sure the time and date are correct on both the pc and the ppc. After a hard reset the date gets screwed up.

Thank you, I'm sure that was it, because I don't think I reset the date/time.

The data that was erased may still be in your Deleted folder in Outlook. See if you can try to recover them and then do an Outlook backup. Also, under Tools - Options in ActiveSync, you can configure exactly how you want to sync (i.e., "Always replace data on my device") under the Rules tab.

Thanks, great idea! I found a few appointments I needed in my deleted items in Outlook. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Too freaked out about losing everything to think clearly, I guess!
