not syncing, not connected, but can transfer files

Hi,

got an x30 with no problems x1 yr. Now cannot sync for last 2 weeks. Have firewall but was never a problem before. I tried uninstalled & upgraded to AS 4.2 with no change. The only thing i can think of in last 2 weeks is that i installed a new hardrive (did a complete miror copy & set as master).

PC detects the axim when connected & tries to sync (AS circle spins) but no sync happens.

Funny thing is that PC says- not connected & axim AS log says unable to connect. but i can see my files when i use "file explore" & can actually transfer files back & forth. i don't think it's just an outlook thing because AS actually says "not connected" after trying to sync.

Please help! i don't know what the problem is & what to do next!!!

Thanks in advance.

Similar problem

On Monday of this week, I was doing an extremely large download (consumed ALL available resources).
I left my X50v connected - at that point, it was syncing fine, or at least it was able to know the partnership name, etc. - until, the browser died/terminated itself. I started closing down applications. I should have disconnected my PDA, but I wanted to leave it on the power.
Well, when I finally disconnected it, I had to do a reset (don't remember the reason now) ... (lost an application, but that was my fault)

Well, now I can't logon to the Outlook database, which means no appointments, tasks, or contacts, on my PDA. Everything is just fine in desktop Outlook.
I have removed Pocket Informant 2005 (most recent revision), thought I would try getting into the default applications. No difference.

When I try to sync, it sees the partnership name for a brief moment, and then gives me an error message about "Synchronization failed. Disconnect ..."
I've run the Troubleshooter and it finds no problems.
I've installed 4.2. No Change!

The only bright spot is that I can still pull my data files off of the PDA. I lost a couple of pieces of information when I had to do the reset, but those can be reconstructed.

Does any one have any ideas? I'm starting to think about extremes.
Is there any way, other than a HARD RESET, to get the Outlook databases available again?

Thank you so much for helping.

so far ok now

it seems to work for me now. i uninstalled activesync again & re-install; it asked for profile & synced. i only sync a few things- calendar, contacts, & slowly incr items. i haven't let it sync files yet- afraid it will start screwing up.

anyways, i wanted to avoid hard reset too. try this a few times (i did it 3 times i think); not sure what wen ton but ok for now.

i think i'm having the same problem. Had encountered the error 'Unable to logon to Pocket Outlook Database' in Pocket Informant a couple of weeks ago. While everything else works fine, I couldn't see my PIM data and can't even start Pocket Outlook. Had to do a hard reset.

Now the problem has surfaced again, and activesync failed.
I will try remove and re-install Activesync as bilyth has suggested and see how it goes..
