4.2 = PDA chimes every 5 min or so!

I just upgraded to the ActiveSync 4.2 and it's connected all nice & dandy (unlike before, the old version suddenly decided not to work) but every 5 min or so, the PDA does it's little connection chime. Why?
Anybody else got that?

Yes, but mine is not every 5 minutes... Not sure what is triggering it.

Mine also, seems to chime with an update sound. Just installed 4.2 on a new Axim 51v

I have ActiveSync 3.8, X50v, ppc 2003SE, AO5 & it does this from time-to-time. No Idea why.

Worried ActiveSync

I just install ActiveSync 4.2 the other day, and my Axim X51v syncs itself every 5 minutes, and, when I turn it off on the docking station, it turns itself on in 5 minutes to sync itself. Hopefully, someone has a fix for this.

Try unplugging USB after you sync. I had my cradle plugged into a USB port on the front of my PC, so it was not a big deal to unplug. Or try BT syncing if your PC has BT - it works well.

Why does it keep restarting?

This is crazy. Every few minutes, even when activesync is shut off, it restarts the Ax and does a sync.
version 4.2 does anyone know of a fix or are we all waiting for a new version?

Search this site for Fake Server Trick thread(s). It will give you explanations and a way to fix it. I am mobile right now & don't have the link handy.

When I used the filesys patch with my x50v it used to chime very five minutes maybe this is related.

Silence at least

I too had the same problem, but I am so grateful it now syncs that I just turned off the sound for the "ActiveSync: Begin Sync" Event Notification (goto Start, Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications tab).

It still happens but the noise no longer drives me crazy

I too am looking to fix the cause and not just the symptom thougg - any suggestions

Try this out to see if it helps:

I'm using 4.1 still and it stops the looping power on syncs. I'll try it on 4.2 soon I'm sure though.
