x51v ROM A12: 'fake server' still needed but it doesn't work

Hello.

After updating my Axim x51v to new A12 ROM I noticed that 'fake server' trick is still needed: ActiveSync continues to run itself.
Actually I didnt noticed other symptoms like disappearing cards or battery overheating.

Also I noticed that some programs (Resco, Notes, ...) can start themselves after (several minutes later) I used them and closed.

Does anybody experience this problem ?

After A12 upgrade, I did FST on my X51 and it has worked fine. I have not noticed any programs starting on their own.

No self starting programs at my device. But i have done the FST on ActiveSync on my PC because i couldn't add a new server at ActiveSync on my Axim.

I noticed AS starting after I installed A12 so I applied the fake server trick and had the impression that all was back to normal.

Now that you mention it, the ax does, sometimes behave in funny ways, maybe similar to what you mention. I have to look more carefully to be sure.

Nonetheless, since having done the upgrade, I have tried not to overload the ax with too many programs. I try to install just the ones I am sure I will need and avoid trials as they have to be deinstalled.

I closed AS that way, but after soft reset it was running :) Like it was placed to startup folder. Closed again and SF - running. It was repeating until I cradled my Axim.

I dont know time period for A12 ROM and if there is such period, but it's not even 30 minutes for me. It very upsets me because I cant find out if there is a problem and try to fix it. All yesterdays evening AS was silent. But when I turned on my device tomorrow morning, AS was in Running Programs menu.

Have just created fake server to check if the schedule setting saved. They reverted to "As items arrived" as many users wrote. It's seemes that setting are not saved after server deleting. If not to delete fake server they are saved.

I'll try not to delete fake server...

I didn't delete fake server, set schedule to "Manualy" and AS still run on my Axim :rolling:

Now I totally have no ideas why ...

Hello,

I can't create a Fake Server Trick on my A04 FR X51V.

After the create operation, the FST isn't create and the schedule is grey shaded.

Please help me.

it is necessary to fill all fields to create FST, and FST is ok, schedule ok,..... all is ok.
(in A01 FR it was not necessary to fill all fields to create FST......)

I'm sorry to hear about those of you still experiencing AS woes ... :(

the only thing I would like to add ( maybe it will help ) is ...

pay attention to when you last sync and before retiring the device ... activesync does not go away by itself ... you have to actually "terminate" it ...

the reason I mention this is I'm thinking that AS is not turn on by itself but infact .. it is still left on from the last time you had sync ..

me running X51V + A12 ... after I followed the above advice ... I've been keeping a close eye to investigate and my Axim is behaving quite nicely ... no unpredictable AS at all ( knock on wood !!

also ... I did left the "fake server trick" still without deleting it to keep it on "manual" ( also make sure all items are UNCHECK )... it tends to reverts back to "as item arrive" if you delete the server ...but will kept at "manual" if you keep the server.

and I also unselect the dates in peak times and set the start and end time to be the same so they cancel each other out ( covering all the bases

Yes. I've noticed that too. These drop down menus are working. I tried to set up 5 minutes and AS was autorunning periodically :) I hope "Manually" will work too.

Actually I didn't have any unexpected AS running since my last post. One thing - it autostarted once after I soft resetted my Axim.
