Wireless Sync for x51v

I know it is not supported and I've read many times over that it can't be done, but someone out there must have figured out a way to sync their Axim wirelessly.

I have a PC at home and a PC at work, but only 1 cradle. Carrying it back and forth is a pain (although certainly an option).

Was hoping someone out there was smart enough to have an additional option.

Thanks!

Buy a travel sync cable. Belkin sells one on the Dell site. You might find it few bucks cheaper elsewhere. I have one and it works great. I do a fair amount of travelling, so it was a necessary evil.

I can sync wirelessly over bluetooth quite easily, but I'm guessing you mean over Wi-Fi? You could get a bluetooth dongle for one of the computers.

Blue Tooth syncing is great and you can get a decent BT dongle for around $20-$30. Well worth it IMO.

Do you have an x51v? And is that travel sync cable manufactured by Belkin?

No, I have an x50. I believe the cable was manufacturer by Belkin. I bought it from Dell last summer when I bought the X50. It was part of a kit that included a travel charger and cig lighter adapter. All work great. A quick look at the accessories page for the Axims, they are selling the sync cable separately for $15. The kit I bought is $35.

I want to be able to sync at work. I am in the US Military, and the goverment issue computers here won't allow me to sync via the travel cable. But when I am out of town (like I am now), it is often 2-3 weeks inbetween syncing with my home computer. I guess all I am after is updating my weather, and a few other things. How can I do this? Is there a way to do it strictly off my WiFi internet connection?

Microsoft deliberately stopped wifi syncing because of security issues.

If those apps can reach the Internet to do their thing, then maybe (examples include Pocket Outlook, weather apps), otherwise.. no.

What weather app are you using? I would imagine most give you the option to update either via ActiveSync or Wi-Fi. I use ABD Weather Plus and update that daily via Wi-Fi. I also update my RSS feeds daily via Wi-Fi.

Any quick HOWTO's on BT Syncing - I have a dongle and two different office locations, one cradle on my home PC

Id hate to have to buy cables for each office PC
but BT/USB Dongles are cheap on Ebay & Amazon - now under $20 per....
