ActiveSync 4.2 vs Axim x51v

I've been synching with 4.0 and a Tablet PC via Bluetooth for some time. But now I'm trying to synch with a desktop PC via USB cable and ActiveSync 4.2, and getting nowhere. That is, it synched once yesterday, perfectly, but now refuses to do anything.

I've done all the resets, reinstalls, and nuking of profiles that various source (Microsoft troubleshooter, activesync newsgroup posts here and microsoft.public) have recommended.

Ideas? Thanks.

Ken

the device connect through activesync via LAN under the address of:

169.254.2.2

check your firewall to allow this and 4 other application ( AS related )

/CEAPPMGR.EXE
/rapimgr.exe
/wcescomm.exe
/WCESMgr.exe

if not using 3rd party firewall ... then ... check windows native firewall !!

No joy

Already there. To be precise, the scope for each entry was

169.254.2.0/255.255.255.0

which I believe lets anything in over the 169.254.2 subset, including .2. But, just to check, I added 169.254.2.2 in all four entries. No change in behavior.

Other suggestions, anyone?

Update re axim failing to sync

Still can't debug it. The hardware is detected, it shows up under Network Adapters in the Devide Manager as a Windows Mobile device, and when I look at the driver, it indeed says Dell x51v axim. There is no newer driver available on Windows update, nor anything to roll back to. I've tried uninstalling and rebooting, that doesn't work either.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.
