Is there a way to sync an HP Jornada 720 using Handheld PC 2000 with an Axim A51x running WM5?

I'd like to use both units but may return the Axim if it cannot contain the same info as the 720. They use different verisons of Active Sync, 3.7.1 -vs- 4.0, and they don't seem to play well together. Yes, I can install, uninstall and reinstall the different versions, but what a bother!

Has anyone had any experience with this dilemma?

The newer versions of activesync are "backward-compatible" so you should be able to use 4.0 to sync both. Or are you having problems doing that?

The jordana 720 is a great device considering its like 6yrs old.

Sorry to ask?, but why do you need two devices synced with the same info? Its okay if you dont have an answer or if u just want to see if its possible.

You're right - the newer 4.2 version of active sync works. I was using the 4.1 that came w/ the Dell disk and the 720 wouldn't communicate via either the serial or USB.
Good question - I use the 720 in my work because of the usable keyboard and larger screen. The Axim is pretty cool, but it hasn't proven practical for typing and printing engineering reports in the field. However, it'd be convenient to have the same information on both for those times when the ppc is easier to carry.

Yes those old jordanas look good for their bigger screens and keyboard. I just love how ms set up the handheld pc os. It looks so much more like windows. With the taskbar, start at bottom, etc.
