ActiveSync Why has it taken so long for this category?

Aximsiteactivesyncicon Most contents in desktop sync folder deleted
Has anyone ever heard of this? Suddenly, when I sync, activesync deletes most of the files in my desktop sync folder. They remain on the axim. If I copy them back to the sync folder, then they double on the axim and disappear from the sync folder again. I have tried every setting, can't imagine why it is doing this? My next try is to delete the partnership and try again. Any suggestions? I'm stumped
