AS 4.2 I have no "Sync Options", "Schedule", or "Rules" tabs. Why?
In AS 4.2, under Options, I do not have any tabs (Sync Options, Schedule, or Rules)? I understand that there is SUPPOSED to be these tabs, but they simply are not there. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sony Vaio notebook
X51v
AS 4.1 from Dell upgraded/clean installed to 4.2 (4876) from Microsoft site
Spy Sweeper
Zone Alarm (configured according to MS website for ZA)
USB cradle connection.

Here is what I have tried so far:

I originally installed AS 4.1 from the Dell CD. Then upgraded to 4.2. Then I uninstalled AS4.2, downloaded a different file from another site, and reinstalled AS 4.2 again. Same problem - I click "Options", "Tools" and there is only 1 tab. There is NO "sync options", "Schedule" or "rules" tabs.

I reinstalled AS 4.2 in the same folder it had been previously located. After the unistall, I rebooted, and then checked to see if the AS folder was still listed in my C:\progam files\ folder tree - it is listed and contains quite a few files from other programs installed on my device. Can I/should I install the "clean" install in a different folder? If so, will I then have to reinstall this other software as well?

Just to be clear: on my pc - in activesync, I click "tools", then "options", there is only one tab on the top called "options", with a list of things to sync, and a box called "settings" at the bottom.

Jogga has graciously been throwing suggestions my way in this thread: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=136761 but to no avail.

Anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts?

Yeah, and under the calendar options I used to be able to syncronize appointments according to the category. That way I could have an appointment be on my desktop but not on the PC. Great for reminders when I'm at my office and don't want the clutter on the PPC.
I like the old Activesync better.

I installed AS 4.2 over AS 3.7.1 to use with my WM2K3.2 X50V and it works OK with all the tabs.

Is this an acronym test?

Cannot really see how since this is all on the PC. It would be more likely a difference between Windows XP and Windows XP Home Edition, or perhaps something related to administrative rights on the PC.

More in this thread.

Try uninstalling AS4.2 and installing AS3.8.

If you can't get this from Microsoft, I'm sure that I have a copy that I can email. That's it, I am definately out of ideas now.......

(probably old age or BSE)

If you decide to do that, bear in mind the 4.1 uninstall (and so probably the 4.2 uninstall) leaves a couple of DLLs lying around - rapi.dll and ceutils.dll, and the 3.8 install doesnt replace those DLLs with its older versions. So after uninstalling 4.2 go find those two files and delete them before reinstalling 3.8.

I have AS 4.2, but my Ax tells me that my computer needs AS 4.1 or higher and won't sync. Any ideas?

But I thought that WM5 would not sync unless you are using AS 4.0 or above. The official Microsoft documentation would seem to suggest this. What gives?
