Computer Reading as Ethernet Controller
My computer is reading my ActiveSync connection as an Ethernet Controller. I've tried numerous times to uninstall ActiveSync and reinstall. I cannot sync to my computer at all, and I don't know what to do! Please help!

By your post I assume that you are using Windows Mobile 5 in conjunction with Activesync 4.x. Microsoft in their infinite wisdom has decided to emulate a network adapter to allow for better security. Since your PDA is communicating with Activesync in an emulated ethernet fashion, any firewall that you have enabled must be configured to allow this "network" traffic. You can test this by temporarily disabling your firewall(s) to see if you get better results. Alternatively, on your PDA you can go to Start/Settings/Connections/USB to PC and uncheck the "Enable advanced network functionality" to disable this ethernet emulation and communicate using a typical USB device. Good Luck! JaMMy | |||||||||||
