Active Sync 4.2 renames device?

I recently updated the ROM in my X51v and took the opportunity to update to Active Sync 4.2 from the the beta release.

However, on both machines I sync with the software renamed my X51v to what i assume is a default device on first synchronisation.
I had to set the name of my device back to my preferred name and re-sync on both occasions.

Has anyone else see this behaviour? If not why! Did I do something wrong?

I have seen this happen remotely (I was on the phone walking my Dad through setting up his X51v). It named the Axim "WM_Mr_Thomas", where "Mr Thomas" is his user name on the PC.

It hasn't happened to me. This might be because each time I have done a ROM upgrade (on an X50v and now an X51v), the first thing I do is set the device name as I want it (it seems to default to Pocket_PC after a hard reset, and I unimaginatively call it X51v).

Glad its not just me.

I had set the name I wanted after updating my ROM, then when I synced it changed my device to WM_ and my name from the owner information.
I set the name back, but then when I synced to my work machine the same thing happened again.
Having reset the name a second time all seems ok.

It must be part of the active sync mechanism.

This happened to me. It finally stopped. I think this is what I did. I named my ppc the name I wanted it to be. I left that sync'd device on the desktop and renamed my ppc back to the name I wanted. I had upgraded from 3.8 and the ppc name was the same. So when it asked to delete a partnership, I deleted the WM_Name partnership. Sorry I can't be more specific, eventually it just stuck

Same thing is happening to me and between the two computers and exchange server I sync to I keep getting renamed. This verison of AS is proving to be very problematic.
