activesync ver 3.7 vs 3.8

i am currently using the x5 and am upgrading to the x51v. I am using activesync version 3.7. can i still sync the x51v with version 3.7? What is the major diff between that and version 4.1 (the one shipping with the new dell's)
also, if i do upgrade to version 4.1, does anyone have any advise before i proceed?

sorry title should have read, "activesync ver 3.7 vs 4.1"

sorry all

I prefered using 3.8 with my old X5, but with my new X51v you have to use 4.1 or 4.2.

so...did you uninstall ver 3.7 and then reinstall 4.1?
On the FAQ, it says to sync the x51v to the old version first..but sounds like it can't be done. What procedures or tips can you provide. thanks!

I uninstalled 3.7, then disconnected the X5. Then I installed 4.2 and set up my X51v to sync, with no problems. I believe it is possible to sync your X5 with 4.2 as well, but I can't confirm this since I no longer have my X5.

The main difference with 4.1 and 4.2 compared to 3.7 and 3.8 is that syncing via WiFi is no longer possible. This is mainly because microsoft disabled WiFi syncing with WM5 since it was unstable. If you don't use WiFi, then you probably won't notice much difference between the versions. Don't be put off during installation if it says it is installing version 4.0, just go to the microsoft site, download activesync 4.2, and install it.

I installed 4.2 over 3.7.1 with only a few issues, documented here.

I think the big difference with AS 4.x (over AS3.x) is you can no longer sync over WiFi.
