I hate to break this news, but going to 4.5 beta2 fixed complicated problems for me. Of course, this also involved wiping and re-installing Outlook (of various versions), and moving my Mailbox to another server at work.
As for the error messages, they are slightly better. E.g., attachment did not download, and suggests going back to mark it for download.

Feature: Synchronization over a Bluetooth connection with your PC
Benefit: ActiveSync 4.5 now enables you to synchronize data with your PC over a Bluetooth connection.
one thing that is great with this version, and they FINALLY implemented, is the "Allow wireless conection on device when connected to the desktop".
Saves alot of time for me. Its under the connection settings. :)
Edit: hmmm, its weird, when i connect my x51v, the option dissapears, and so does the connection. Have to play around with it. But thanks for the find.
those of you who have upgraded, did it rename your axim? did you have resync everything or was it just a seamless transition.
I installed AS 4.5 beta yesterday. The main thing I dislike - I can't find out how to rename the partnership it established!
Otherwise, it has worked great, since i turned off the advanced networking capabilities for the USB to PC option on my X51v.
I did have one scare when it wouldn't connect via USB to my brand new X51v, then I remembered the tip I read in another thread. I tried it and we have had lots of fun re-installing applications ever since.
Does anyone know how to change the partnership name from WM_xxxx to what I want?
I looked at this yesterday, before I found out about the new AS beta and got my new X51v; (I was thinking my problem synching was with AS.)
XTNDConnect PC makes data synchronization easy. XTNDConnect PC is a software application that allows you to synchronize your contacts, calendar, tasks, e-mail, and notes between your mobile devices and popular PC applications. It provides support for Pocket PC, Palm, Microsoft Smartphone, popular Sony Ericsson phones including the K700, K750,W600, W800, and Z520 phones, and the NEC a232 and 232E HDM handsets as well as the Motorola Q. The same application will also let you synchronize your devices with Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Lotus Organizer, and ACT!
I really want to be able to have more than two sync partnerships (home, work and laptop), but so far I haven't found anything that will work.
As soon as I finish reinstalling all my applications, my X50v gets a hard-reset and I give it to my husband. He's fine with WM2003SE, but I've put a bunch of time and money into WM5 apps, so I'm not willing to downgrade the OS and stay with the X50V.
(The X51v is an early birthday present.) :approve: :)

There are a couple of ways to do this...
1) Before you build your new partnership, rename your file share in your "My Documents" folder to something like "Original Name" + " backup". It will then save the name you originally had.
2) After your've built your new partnership, you can rename it from both the PDA or ActiveSync.
a) On the PDA, start ActiveSync and goto Menu/Options. Tap the name of your partnership and then the Settings button. You can change it there. By the way, you must do this with the PDA disconnected from the PC.
b) On the PC, start ActiveSync and goto Tools/Options. Click on the name of your partnership and then the Settings button. You can change it there. By the way, you must do this with the PDA connected from the PC.
c) On the PC, you can also change the name of the partnership for that PC by right clicking on the name of the partnership on the bottom half of the ActiveSync window (you must click on the "Show Details" to display this) and select settings from the pull down menu.

I installed it recently and found the following...
1) File transferrs are much faster (as much as 2-3 times faster), but ActiveSyncing is not.
2) It shows a little more information during syncs like some additional details during the sync.
3) It has many of the same problems I've encounter with all 4.x versions.
a) It may delete most or all of your synchronized files if you sync files. I've never found a way to fix this without a hard reset to the PDA. This only happens when you have to build a new partnership.
b) It will rename your device and your sync files folder if you don't rename or delete your old one. This only happens when you have to build a new partnership.
I had figured out how to change the partnership name.
I was trying to figure out how to change the device name, which I had figured out ... finally ... again.
Start -> Settings -> System -> About -> Device ID.
I do like the beta AS 4.5.
I noticed that sometimes it takes a couple of times to put the device in the cradle to start the sync. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
