Question Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks: no checkboxes to activate sync

So yesterday, I upgraded Office 2000 to Office XP Pro. Afterwards, I attempted to use Activesync and the only items that synched were Files, Inbox, and Favorites. Wondering what happened to Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, I clicked on Options and noticed that the checkboxes to activate the synchronization of these items were all gone! I don't mean disabled--they're just not there anymore.

I searched for more info and attempted the following:

- Soft Reset
- Disabled ZoneAlarm
- Deleted partnership
- Detect & Repair Outlook
- Ran scanpst.exe on my PST file
- Reinstalled ActiveSync 3.8
- Uninstalled AS 3.8 and Installed 4.2

Everything to no avail...

I'm pretty sure the problem is a corrupt file on the PDA because using Activesync on my computer with the Axim off the cradle and the partnership deleted, I could see my contacts and such through the AS options dialogue. So what are my options now?

I'm trying to avoid a hard reset because the last time I backed up with AS was after this happened (whoops). Is there a way to reinstall Pocket Outlook? I'm also using Pocket Informant. Would reinstalling that help? I think I should also roll back to AS 3.8. How do I do that? Please help!

I once found a profile that I had to manually delete when my ActiveSync got hosed.

It was C:\Documents and Settings\my pc user logon name\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles\my pda name

Did you click on activesync on your pda and I believe it is in options and try to set the items you wish to connect? Try establishing it from the pda side since the computer side isn't giving you that option

Looks like there are no options on the PDA side to select which items to synchronize--unless you're syncing to a server, which I'm not. Thanks though.

which version of AS are you using? I know it is in 4.2

On AS
go to menu then options and you should see all the different boxes to check

According to the picture, the items are available on your PC, but not on your PDA. Looks like time for a hard reset. In other words, nothing you do on your PC will fix the problem.

I'd suggest doing a backup of your Axim, in case this doesn't work, and then doing a hard reset. Bet those checkboxes will show up again.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I've never performed a hard reset before so I'm a little gunshy at the moment. If I backup everything using Sprite now, hard reset, then restore, could I be restoring the problem as well? Does Sprite's full backup retain all of my settings and programs? I'd just like to know how close to square one I'd be after the hard reset and backup restoration. Thanks!

You DON'T want to restore!!! That would only recreate the problem. If things work OK after a hard reset, you'll have to reinstall all your apps. The backup is only in case the hard reset doesn't fix the problem, and you want to get back to the current situation.
