I guess I asked my newbie questions on the wrong forum. Is there an active site, even a pay site, that helps newbies? I am not sure where to start, I've never owned a PDA before. Most of the lingo is confusing, and I am not in the loop...I'd appreciate it if someone knows of a website that can help. Thanks!

Patience!!
![]() Firstly - you're require patience to go and read the manual. They're never interesting but if you are a "fresh" newbie then you'll benefit from it. We all had to start somewhere remember. I'd consider reading it twice, it'll make more sense the second time around. Once you've done that - click on Resources at the top of the page and choose the Tutorials section. There is a Tutorial on Activesync there (and here: http://www.aximsite.com/articles/link.php?id=247) which although based on 3.8 will get you started. You won't find a single resource telling you everything you need to know tailored specifically to your level. Instead, take some time to read the manual, browse the tutorials, use the forum's SEARCH feature, and feel free to post your own questions too. Don't be despondent if you don't get an answer in the first 5,10,60 or whatever minutes, sometimes it takes time. Welcome along! Enjoy the stay! And yes there are other forums too. http://www.brighthand.com springs to mind. There's a bunch. Just find one (or a few) that you feel comfortable on.

Like Howard said, the manual is your friend, even though we all hate to admit it. I suggest reading the manual with your Axim in your hand. It makes it much easier to understand when you can follow along and do the things they are talking about.
Then, once you have some more specific questions, there are lots of helpful people here at Aximsite. Doug

meerkat57,
This is the best site there is for learning about your pda. A couple months ago I was right where you are now. There is a bit of a learning curve to catch on to the axim, but it is well worth a little reading and exploring. This site has plenty of information and answers--explore a little; check out the tutorials found in the "resources" tab--they're very helpful. Ask questions when you need to; the people here are helpful and friendly and will talk you through anything or point you to the right tutorial or link. I've asked questions about the simplest things and received informative answers

And remember it's all about the little things. Don't try to learn everything at once.
Start with a simple task (sync the PDA with outlook) and once you master that, move to something else. Don't just straight in to streaming audio to the Axim over wifi. Save that for a few weeks down the track ![]()

I am trying to get online. My post on the newbies board has received over 130 views and I've gotten some responses, but no answers. I have a wiflyer and can get online with my laptop, but I cannot figure out how to set up the Axim to go online. When I tap on Internet Explorer, there are tons of options and I don't understand the terms used, or which option to choose. That's what I'm trying to learn. I just want to launch IE and get online. We're traveling in a few days and I am desperately trying to get answers. I get some links to things not relevant to getting online. I don't care about the calendar feature, app'ts, etc. I want to be able to get online and cehck my email. I don't want to synch with outlook, I'll just go to aol.com and read my mail. and yahoo.com to read that mail. If there is a specific link to getting online with the X51V, I'd be grateful for the info! Thanks.
