Aximsiteactivesyncicon Synchronization cannot be completed successfully...

Does anybody know what causes the following WCESMgr error message:
"synchronization cannot be completed successfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer."
I have uninstalled/reinstalled AS 4.2 and now have tried AS4.5. Same result. The unit simply will not sync with my laptop PC. I can, however, get it to sync with my desktop PC. I have successfully sync'd a previous PDA using AS4.2 with the laptop, so I now stuck. please help.

Is it a firewall setting: these are often the source of difficulty when you can sync with one machine and not another.

Also check that you are not confusing the device by trying to sync differnet email accounts on different pc

Okay. new update. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Dell. In the end, we unselected the option to "Enable Advanced network functionality". that step opened the synchronization process.
I can sync only the Files option. When I try to sync the outlook contacts, calendar, tasks, the sync process stops and has a new "view status" message. clicking on the message, I find "The Server is Busy...Support Code: 85010017." The Microsoft Mobile support page suggest that I need to upgrade to AS 4.2, but I am already there.
Any ideas?

Okay, by trail, I found the answer. I do not know the reason, but it fixed my problem.
SOLUTION: go to Settings / Connections / select USB to PC icon and unselect "Enable advanced network functionality." after I did that, the synchronization worked.

Okay, for a mere $35, a microsoft Mobile Tech Support Expert, walked me through a variety of tests. none which directly resolved the problem. we performed a Hard Reset, deleted the Partnership, and it worked. This was odd. Just this a.m. I performed at least 2 hard resets and have deleted the partnerships multiple of times. Why it worked this time, I do not know.

The "SOLUTION: go to Settings / Connections / select USB to PC icon and unselect "Enable advanced network functionality." " worked on mine, but the problem did not show up until I tried to synced to my work computer after working just fine from several days on the home computer. Disabling this seems to have not changed anything important. The ICON was not present on 51v's (A04 rev however). Anyone actually know what this does?
