OK, here's an overview: I have a home ThinkPad T30 laptop (XP), and a work desktop Compaq EVO (W2000) pc. My Axim X51v (WM5) syncs at work just fine with outlook 2003 installed on the PC. However, I am not able to "Explore" my Axim from my desktop, nor am I able to install programs. Many selections are either grey'd out or non-functional. I have upgraded my desktop to AS v.4.5x beta, and as soon as I did that I was able to sync. (limited). Prior to that, I could not sync with the desktop at all only the laptop which was the original setup machine for the Axim's programs.

Is this normal? How do I make sure the latest AS is installed on the Axim and it's fully compatible with the AS on the PC? Can I only install software and "Explore" on the original setup machine?

you should have equal access via both

on the PITA machine, delete the device from
AS, file, delete mobile device
then re-create the pairing

Just tried your suggestion, disconnected the Axim, deleted the Axim and ended the partnership, deleted the associated file folder... then I re-connected and sync'd but now I can't even get a Acitve-Sync window to open on my PS's desktop. That's weird. I will try on my notebook tonight to check the AS version on the Axim and upgrade to 4.5xBeta across the board.

This may sound dumb but its been eons since I setup my Axim. I just installed AS 4.5 beta2 on my laptop, but I'm not 100% sure how to update the activesync on the dell!!! I will search, but if anyone reads this (LOL) and wants to smack he in the head and tell me the secret... please do!!!

BTW, I did install AS v.4.5.2b on my laptop, and tried to upgrade my A06 to A12 last night and had a disaster. Got to the last step of the upgrade and although the A12 file(s) were on my laptop, the Dell could not find them? What gives?

And for whatever reason, when I cradle my Axim on the desktop at work, it will sync outlook fine, but I can't explore or even open Active Sync on my screen. What could be causing this?
