ActiveSync Why has it taken so long for this category?

"Check names (Unspecified)" error

I get three "Check names" error messages each time I sync with Outlook on the laptop. The messages always say the name is "(Unspecified)" and I have to cancel synchronising them.

This started to show up when I began synchronising with Lotus Notes at the office. I'm using Pocket Informant on the Axim. Three different applications and two synchronisers (AS & SmartSync), all interpreting the same data... bound to end in tears!

Every year, I have to delete and recreate the birthday of my nephew (29 February 1984) because the Outlook/AS/PI combo can't cope. I'm used to that.

Anyway, I'd now like to get rid of the three records with "(Unspecified)" and stop the irritation. Problem is, in Outlook I have scores of Calendar entries without a Contact name, and, equally, scores of Contacts without a Full name. Of course, no entries actually with the name "(Unspecified)". Same in the other two apps.

I've tried to give the records --- whatever they are --- a name to make them happy but AS won't do that of course (so why does it give me the option to pick a name?).

Any ideas where and how to look?
