Post hard drive reformat Activesync hell
After reformatting my desktop hard drive, I cannot seem to get the activesync running properly again.

I am starting to really resent the fact that Microsoft Outlook is mandatory to make everything sync up. Since we have three different house emails, we use Outlook Express. Activesync seems to insist that Outlook is the primary mail client and that is what I cannot figure out.

Prior to the reformat I had Outlook Express as the primary default program and Activesync worked like a charm. Now it just won't function unless Outlook is the default.

First I had the Support Code 85010014 message, but per a google, I did an Outlook "search n' repair" and that was fixed. Next, I had the Support Code 8503001f message, again per a google, I deleted the sync profile, restarted, adn everything was fine. But now, Outlook problem continues.

If anyone knows how to make the Activesync funtion despite using Outlook Express as the primary mail client.....I would be forever grateful. I'm almost to the point where I want to try reformatting the axim itself.....but dread the manual input of all my contact info.

Is there other/better sync software out there that I should consider?

The good news is that everything worked out. I uninstalled Activesync, Outlook, and hard reset the axim. Then I reinstalled Outlook and set it up to my email account although maintained Outlook Express as the default. Reinstalled Activesync and everything worked great. I suppose there was some residue sync info that had me jammed up before.

I'd love to use only Outlook.....if it enabled a family to switch user profiles to manage 3 different email accounts.....
