Axim Vista Sync Instructions

1. Remove the Axim from the Cradle.
2. Go to Start * Settings * Connections * USB to PC. Uncheck the advanced connection box.

Note: If you're still running an old ROM which doesn't have this option, download and install (AT YOUR OWN RISK) http://www.utstar.com/pcd/downloads/...yncMode.sa.CAB, an app that does give you this option.

3. If you get an error that it could not switch to serial, turn off bluetooth and delete all ports and then try again.
4. Re-Cradle the Axim. Windows will now install the sync service if it had not done so before.
5. On the computer, Go to Start * All Programs * Windows Update.
6. Now, you should see 1 recommended update "Microsoft Driver Update for Axim USB sync". Install it.
7. You will then need to agree to install the WMDC beta 3. Go for it.
8. You will then get the green Windows Mobile Device Center screen to set up your partnership.
9.You can check up on the progress in the Control Panel Sync Center as well.

Hope this is helpful.

Sync center behaves similar to active sync, it just has a flashy UI. And if your me, then even though you can get the Axim and sync center connected, it doesn't necessarily mean it will sync...

Very strange. I have just installed Vista, and followed every instruction I could find on setting up the Sync centre for my X51V. No matter what I did I could not get it to sync, in fact sync centre would not even recognise the device. The MS update kept failing.

I then came across this thread, and went into Connections to UNCHECK the "Advanced Connection Box". Mine was already UNCHECKED,

So thought what the hell and checked it. The second it was applied, Vista kicked in, installed the Sync Centre thing and hey presto.

Just seems weird you UNCHECKED the box to get it working, and mine did the opposite.

Worth others trying the same ;-)

Vista snyc to Axim 51

I have the same problem that everytime I start Outlook 2002 to check my email it pops up in the enter network password box even though this was saved when setting up my email account. Worked fine when I was running Windows XP but now with Vista it pops this window up every time I start Outlook. As long as outlook is open and I have entered this it will work but as soon as I close it and
restart it I have to put the code in again. Anybody have a solution?

I have tried the suggestions offered here. UBC to PC does not appear under "connections" on my Axim x51v. I have downloaded the recommended app, but running it does not cause the UBC to PC to appear. I have tried the windows update, and the "Microsoft Driver Update for Axim USB sync" says failed. So now I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Can't Sync Either

I can't seem to sync either. I'm running Windows Vista Business x64. Could this be a result of x64? I have not heard anything specific about 64-bit. However, people mention getting a Dell Axim USB driver update. I don't have that as an option in my Windows Update, nor has it been installed in previous updates. Any ideas? I can see the device on the computer, and can sync files to it with Windows Media Player.
