ActiveSync Why has it taken so long for this category?

Urgent: ActiveSync stuck at "connecting" - AS's "box" isn't popping up!

Hi all,

When I connect my Axim (via dock OR cable) to my PC, it gets an IP address and then ActiveSync's icon just keeps spinning with the message "Connecting"

I have confirmed 99% that the X51v IS the problem - The ActiveSync "box" does not popup on my X51v!. The SAME problem happened before and I had to hard reset the damn thing, and restore all of my files/settings all over again.

I'd like to do that as a LAST resort. What could be the problem?

1) I've tried different docks, different calbe, different USB port
2) Uninstalled peerguardian 2. No software firewalls
3) Done the Fake Server trick/fix
4) Running WM5 A12 Dell Axim X51v

Again, the problem is that the ActiveSync "Box" ON THE X51v is not popping up. IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH MY PC'S ACTIVESYNC!

Any ideas?

I don't have an IR port, nor have I synced anything with bluetooth, but my suspicions tell me it won't work. The sync application for AS isn't popping up on my X51v.



UPDATE: I think it may be a problem with Memmaid. I may have deleted the repplog application from the notification queue. I followed the instructions in the link below, but when I soft reset, the notification disappears from the notification queue.

The problem persists. It's definitely problem ON my Axim. My computer's AS green wheel is spinning, but there's no characteristic beep beep beeep" sound.

My x51v synchs fine but I have never had the AS box pop up on the Axim screen. I had a similar problem early on because I was connecting via a hub but as soon as I plugged directly into the PC it was fine.
AS can be a pain, it seems that it is either trouble free or causing heaps of problems.
If you do a search you will find lots of threads and lots of possible solutions. I would only use a hard reset as a last resort.

Does anyone know what the name/location of this application is? (e.g. plugin your axim; use a utility like memmaid task manager?



UPDATE: I just restored an SPB Backup of a couple of weeks ago and the problem isnt' happening. I'd still like to solve this on my latest backup, since I've done a tremendous amount of changes/tunes/installs.

I think the problem is, indeed, the notifications having been deleted!.

I've already searched, read a million thrads, but none of them helped.

***UPDATE***

OK, I found the following notification entries in my install:

repllog.exe ARGUMENT /sched /remote /h
repllog.exe ARGUMENT AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected


I'm going to try adding these arguments to my latest install and see what happens!

************FINAL UPDATE****************

THE PROBLEM IS FIXED!


The problem WAS INDEED AppRunAfterDndisFnDetected had been DELETED for some odd reason by MemMaid (after finding duplicates).


There is virtually no way of fixing this using normal programs, but a Russian programmer (god I love this man) wrote a program to fix this problem!

STi,

While Activesync tried to connect did you also eventually get a message on the Axim about not getting an ip address? Just wondering because I am having a similar problem. And I did edit my notification file yesterday (with Scarybear software) to remove a sh*tload of OdClient calls that were bringing my machine to a crawl. I didn't delete anything else but maybe the software did so unilaterally? Man, I need to figure this out.....

Fixed mine, too!

Good work finding this one guys! Apparently when I deleted the multiple OdClient notification calls the S/W somehow also deleted the replog entry. Like STi, I don't know why it hapened, either. I am 99.9% sure alls I selected were OdClient calls. In any case this little app fixed it right up. Much easier than a hard reset! :approve:
