ActiveSync Why has it taken so long for this category?

Active sync restarting my com
Dear Guy & Gals,
I have had to re-install Windows XP. Then after a while I tied to install the latest AS 4.2 (re-downloaded many times to be sure) it will restart my computer every time. The installation is in the prosess, not finished, but still installing & it does this, then Windows has to do a check disk on boot up each time. I am not going to do this any more because I will probably ruin my HDs. Any Ideas??
I have the latest Anti-virus SW, & run the latest Spybot also.
