Aloha Folks,

I have struggled for a couple of days to get the Windows Mobile Device Center to sync with my Axim X51v. I was getting "Error" after a few minuites of "Connecting" activity. I finally figured out the issue.

I did an Vista Business upgrade from Windows XP SP2 Tabelt PC edition and DID NOT uninstall Active Sync 4.5 Beta before the upgrade. Note that in Vista Business under Programs and Features in the Control Panel, Active Sync shows up but the option to uninstall is not present.

The solution is to go to All Programs, select Active Sync, right click on it and then select "Delete". Remember that selecting "Remove from the list" doesn't delete it.

Then Windows Mobile Device Center recognized the Axim X51v and it has been an happy affair so far.


This solution should work for those that upgraded to Vista without uninstalling Active Sync.
