How to allow AS with Avast?

I just removed McAfee's anti-virus suite from my computer and installed Avast (home/free). Unfortunately, now that I've done that, I can't seem to connect my Axim to sync it. I assume that this implies that avast is blocking it....anybody out there know how to tell Avast that it's ok?
