Do you have more than one "contacts" group in your Outlook ? Perhaps, you have more than one...and it is trying to sync with an empty group....

Note: BEFORE you start hitting delete ANYTHING in Outlook...you might want to backup your contacts ~File>export to a file ( .pst).... contacts

It might be worth a try to export contacts and then import and then try to sync

.....but that can be done when you have exhausted all efforts....and you are trying anything and everything....

I am running out of suggestions :)

Yes, I admit that I'm clutching at straws here - anyone else got any ideas?
My work doesn't give me much control over the firewall (BlackIce) - either active or closed. I tried to close it and sync, but still didn't get the calendar entries into my Axim.

Nope, just one contacts group in Outlook. I'm up for trying anything and everything :)

Just noticed this thread. I have a very similar problem. I have an X50v that syncs fine (4.1) but I also have a WM5 HP rw6800 series PDA that is behaving exactly as PM's one - can sync appointements from PDA - PC, and synchs contacts both way fine, but can't get appointments off the PC and on to the PDA.

I wonder if there is some corrupt registry setting or something that is on the PDA that is not showing the entries. I don't really know where to look or how to fix it but I just have this feeling the problem lies with the PDA given my Ax syncs fine, so it can't be AS or Outlook.

Watching this with interest!!

Thanks

bump

Sorry, I've been away for most of the last week. If anyone has any further ideas, I'd greatly appreciate them.

Would it make sense to try a different sync program or would this just cause more issues?

Might be worth asking what applications are running: particularly Today plug-ins

I think I have got round my problem by using Pocket Mirror. Not ideal, but it seems to work for me, but it doesn't really satisfy.

Maybe I'll do a backup and hard reset and see how things sync then? And if it woeks then just rebuild again

I actually don't have many programs running at all:
David Andr Birthdays
Dogfood Registry Tweak for WM5
Microsoft .NET CF 2.0
MohairSofa Calendar + Today Plug-in
PPCSoft psShutXP
TranCreative Magic Button
Windows Theme Switch Today

When I click 'Share My Calendar' in Outlook, it pops up a 'Calendar Properites' window. One of the tabs there is 'Synchronization' There is a 'Filter...' button
Inside the Filter menu there isn't anything selected as of right now, but maybe there's something I can do in there?

FWIW, under the Sync tab it has a section for 'Stats for this folder' and it thinks that it's syncing with something. It says 'Last synchronized on:' and lists the last time that I synched my Axim. It also says that the Server folder and Offline folder contain the same number of items - not sure what's up there.

Thoughts?

I know that you are not going to like this suggestion but...

I would:
  • Do a complete back up of my device
  • Hard reset the device
  • Establish a new partnership
  • Try to sync all the information without adding any applications (particularly MohairSofa Calendar & Today)
If that worked, I would:
  • Reinstall each application one-by-one with a soft reset between each install
  • Sync the device between each install
If it didn't work, I would restore my original partnership in the prescribed manner.

I am not familiar with MohairSofa Calendar + so I went to
http://www.mohairsofa.com/Default.aspx/document/10

Before trying Jogga's suggestion (which I also thought of suggesting, but hoped something less drastic might work).... you might want to try uninstalling Mohair Calendar..... then try to sync and see if Outlook syncs with the calendar that came with your ppc.....

and then try re-installing Mohair Calendar (check their site for most recent/best version.....sounds like there were a few bugs in it)..... and then try syncing again.....

Some great ideas here. Today this decided it would happen to me for some odd reason. I tried numerous things listed here and one worked - Office Diagnostics. It found nothing but all of a sudden my PC appointments stated showing up in the PPC and vice versa. Thanks you Microsoft for taking my productivity to 0 for the afternoon ;-).

Thanks to all.

I'm not opposed to doing a hard reset at all - I think the only thing I might have trouble getting back on there is a game or two that I downloaded a while back, but I might still be able to find the install files somewhere.

So, about this hard reset - how do I go about doing it anyway?

Back up First

Connect the Axim to the PC and sync. When the sync has finished, select Tools and then Backup/Restore (from AS on the PC) and select Full Backup.

When you have backed up (and only when), disconnect the Axim and reset. Use the stylus to press the reset hole (rear of the Axim) and press the power button at the same time. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

Ok, so I have no clue what's going on, but after deleting MohairSofa Calendar + Today Plug-in, I've made some progress.

Any new entries that I put into my Outlook calendar are being copied over into my Axim. The older entries that were in my Notes calendar and got migrated to my new Outlook calendar still dont' show up, but when I enter a new meeting, it is now showing up.

I think I'm going to declare success for now. Thanks for all your help!

LOL, I'm not through helping you yet!

In ActiveSync on the PC, click:
  • Tools
  • Options...
  • Select Calendar from the list and click Settings
  • Select Synchronise all appointments
Click OK until you get back to the main AS window. AS should then synchronise and all of your old appointments should appear back on your Axim.
