Question Activesync 4.5 fragged my system--how to start from scratch?

An update...

Here's what I used to be able to do: sync my X51v (and an iMate Kjam) on my XP Pro machine with Outlook 2003 using AS4.2

I upgraded 4.2 to 4.5 and now everything's gone to pot. I can either connect and wait 12-24hrs for syncing to occur, or in some cases the PC simply says 'unable to sync' and fires up the rather useless troubleshooter.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling both AS and Outlook, to no avail. I'm currently using a Sony Clie UX50, which syncs fine using Chapura.

I suspect there's a proper way to completely uninstall AS4.x, but am looking for some guidance on what to do (and in what order).

Thanks...

I went through many installs and re-installs of 4.1, 4.2 and finally 4.5 works fine so far.

I always uninstalled through the control panel applet add/remove software, then rebooted. You could consider a system restore to a pre-4.5 checkpoint.

Also, consider that maybe a soft-reboot of the axim will cure the long sync delay...that occasionally worked for me in the past.

Good luck
