ActiveSync causes PC reboot
I have a x51v and several days ago this started: when I try to activesync, my computer reboots after flashing a message 'retreiving settings' . this happens with both 4.2 and 4.5.
I had upgraded PocketPlus and installed the latest Dell patch before this happened but not sure this caused it. I think there were some Windows XP updates also but those are hard to keep track of. I have my PC set up to dual boot into Vista and there the Mobile center is syncing just fine. I have removed the connection and then reestablished it ...Didn't help I have uninstalled both versions and reinstalled them one at a time... Didn't help I deleted the Dell patch ...Didn't help Not sure what to try now!! I have also run MemMaid cleaner and rebooted PDA many times and still not able to Sync with XP.

This may be a little late, but most computer problems like the one you are describing are caused by any of the following: bad ram, buggy/bad drivers, bad hardware. There are many other possibilities of course, but these are the most likely.
If you can, try the following: 1) Even though you are able to sync fine through the mobile center, test your PC's RAM by downloading Memtest86+ at http://www.memtest.org/#downiso and running it on your computer. I suggest the cd image. 2) Update your drivers in XP, including any all-in-one drivers such as Nvidia Forceware, Via 4in1, etc. Try updating the drivers for your USB host controllers via the device manager and choose the option to search windows update. In addition, make sure you have all of the latest Windows Update critical updates. 3) Switch your cradle, sync cable, or bluetooth adapter to another USB port. If your cradle is connected through a USB hub, connect to the computer directly (although still with another port). If you already know all this, sorry for the trouble.

Thanks for your reply but I have already fixed the problem. I had anti-hacker and anti-virus programs that came with System Mechanic 6 installed and for various reasons I uninstalled them and all of a sudden I was able to sync my x51v on Windows XP. I have no plans to reinstall them.
