I have a x51v, and synced it with my computer without any problems for a year.
Now that I moved in with my girlfriend :love: I want to sync it with her desktop as well. But when I plug in the cradle, install Activesync 4.2 (or 4.5), and put my axim in its cradle, I hear 3 fast, short beeps. I never had this with my other computer.
I already tried to open all the ports, and even disable McAfee firewall, still the three beeps, and no connection!
I don't see a connection under "network connections".

Can anyone help me, what do I forget?

I had a problem using ZoneAlarm, it seems that firewalls treat the X51v as an incoming threat and have to be told it is a trusted device; the latest version of ZA forces you to lower your protection level to enable a connexion so I will be changing firewalls. Why it won't connect when you have closed the firewall is a mystery as you have removed the barrier, is the second PC running Windows Firewall as well? The only conclusion I have at present is that AS is not installing properly if you want to try 4.1 I can email it to you - I have an X5, X50v and X51v all running happily with this version.

I tried to uninstall activesync, and then re-installed 4.5, and somehow, it does work as a charm now!

Sometimes, the computers work in mysterious ways....

Reading your first post suggested that you connected the cradle before installing ActiveSync. That would almost certainly cause problems: the software has to be installed before the drivers.
