I have the strangest problem with my X5. On my slower, older computer, it usually syncs fine - occasionally I have to do a soft reset.

On my newer computer running XP, I have problems approximately 50% of the time. I hear the sound saying that the computer knows the X5 is there but activeSync says it's "Not Connected." I've rebooted the computer, done a soft reset, still no connectivity. This occurs no matter whether I plug the USB into a hub or directly in to the back of the computer. Aaaaaccckkk!

I just moved the cradle back from the older computer yesterday. ActiveSync worked fine yesterday but not today. I really need the X5 to sync to this computer as it is my main computer.

ActiveSync version: 4.5.0
Firewall: Micro-cillin
Outlook version: 2003

For me, pulling the cable of the cradle out and then putting it back in with the device still in cradle (device remain on when doing this.) Hope this will do the trick.

I have used AS 4.1 successfully with an X5 I still own; if you want to try it and can't find a download PM or email me and I will zip it and send it, I may still have 3.8 as well. It sounds like the problem may be AS.

I had similar problem with ActiveSync (version >= 4.1) with my Imate Jasjar. Immediately after booting my system, if i connect my PDA, sync work. But after few mins it stops working.
Some virus cleaning fixed the issue for me.

Take a look in your task manager for apdproxy.exe. If the process is running end it and you should have no problem syncing.
