I am planning to move from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate. I am aware that ActiveSync is being replaced by the Mobile Device Center. One question I have is: Does performing an UPGRADE from XP to Vista properly migrate all the Axim-related apps you had installed on XP and your Axim? Has anyone had any problems with doing an upgrade? Comments appreciated.

I don't know about anyone else but I was unable to get my Axim to synchronize with Vista Pro ... at least through the infa-red connection on a laptop.

Is there something that Vista Ultimate has that you really need? I put Vista Ultimate on an extra system at the office and yeah, it works fine - but to say that it replaces XP Pro would be pushing it at this point, at least to me. If you're doing it on an existing machine you might want to just wait until you get a new machine before you go to Vista.

At the moment there are more reports of problems with upgrades than clean installs, and lots of problems syncing axim with WMDC. I'm waiting, microsoft seems to like to release buggy OS's and let users highlight the bugs that need to be fixed, we're there guinea pigs. XP is still supported for a while, probably worth waiting for Vista to be updated a bit.
