Activesync out of date files error
I have recently acquired a new iPAQ 5550 and so far am pleased with the functionality. The problem I am attempting to resolve is when I attempt to activesync via wireless, I can establish the activesync connection and it begins the synchronization process, however, after a few minutes it fails and a Microsoft Activesync error message appears stating..."There was no response from your device while checking for out of date files. Disconnect your device and try again". I have worked through all of the trouble shooting steps I can find, however, have not been able to resolve this issue. I can surf the interet, ping the syncing pc, etc, but activesync cannot complete. It works fine in the crade with wireless turned off, but if wireless is active while it is in the cradle I get the same result....Anyone have any ideas??

I'm curious if there was a resolution to this. I started getting this error message yesterday after installing MySportTraining on my ipaq 5455 with Mobile Windows 2003. I reimaged the device with a back up from the previous day to no avail. I do not have Resco Picture Viewer on my device and cannot find any .dat files with the above name. Much thanks

Try uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveSync. Make sure you have the latest version of ActiveSync.
If that fails to work, you could give HP a call. As a last resort, I recommend backing up any documents and files (not programs) and trying a hard reset. Then you can put all your files back on and slowly reinstall all your programs to figure out what was the culprit. Let us know. | ||||

There was no resolve that I could find, I even removed Activesync and all registry entries and then did a hard reset on my mobile device and after a complete re-install whithout any extra apps it still comes up with the problem. I think it must be a problem with Outlook 2003 and Activesync. That is unless your not using Outlook 2003 in which case I don't have a clue.

If I remember there is a timeout value in the registry that can be increased that might help. It's been awhile since I looked at that so I will post when I find it. It may help.

Take a look at this thread. I have posted there some information on changing the RasTimeout value for activesync. I may help with your problems.

Might be account selected in Inbox
I had the same problem as described above. I would notice that after I got the error, that I would see the small envelope displayed on the top of the ipaq, indicating that I had new email. I thought that something email related must be causing this timeout. I then launched email from Programs. Clicked Accounts option and noticed ActiveSync was NOT selected, but instead the account I have set up to check my POP when away from home. I reselected ActiveSync and it worked fine. I am using a 5555 with Outlook 2003 on the desktop. I believe what others have said, that it is timeout related and that regardless of the application, whether Resco picture viewer or Inbox, the same error can popup.
