ActiveSync Configuration Question...
Here's what I want to do:
I want to be able to write an e-mail on my iPAQ. When I sync the iPAQ, I want the e-mail to be sent from the desktop. I do not, however, want any e-mail to download to the iPAQ. Is such a configuration possible? Tim.

When you select inbox to sync in Outlook, AS automatically syncs the inbox, outbox, draft and sent items. There is no way that I know of to stop the inbox from syncing. The best that you can do is control the number of days that messages are sync'ed to the PPC.

This is possible, here's what I just tried that worked:
My e-mail on my 4155 has 2 accounts listed - Activesync & Earthlink. I switched to the Activesync account by clicking accounts->activesync. I then wrote a letter and made sure it was in the outbox on the activesync account. I checked my earthlink mail from my PC deleted all the junk except for 1(as a test to see if my earthlink account will check for new messages). I connected via wifi & activesync'ed my 4155. The message in the activesync account went out & my earthlink mail did not check for new messages. The 1 piece of junkmail left as a test did not DL to my 4155. So if you write a message under the activesync account you should be able to send it out without checking for mail on another account. Hope this was helpful. ~Soc

So in theory what you did will work if you make sure that there is nothing in the inbox in Outlook on the desktop and/or any email in inbox falls outside of the criteria you set in the inbox sync configuration settings.

For what it's worth, I figured out a way to do exactly what I was looking for. In ActiveSync settings for the Inbox, I entered 0 in the "Copy messages from the last _ days" field, and unchecked all the mail folders.
Now it downloads no mail to the iPAQ, but I can write e-mail on the iPAQ and the desktop sends it upon sync. Thanks for all your help! Tim.
