ActiveSync keeps running
Hi,
I have a 2210 and have found recently that ActiveSync keeps starting on its own when I'm not connected to a computer. Anyone know why this is happening and how I can stop it?? Thanks.

Hi Anastasia - and welcome to the site
![]() I don't know why ActiveSync does that, but it is very common. If you go into Start>Settings>Power>Running Programs you will be able to see what is running and terminate it from there.
It's that time of year again. I need a new holiday avatar... Is there anyone up to the challenge?

Hi Anastasia
Yesterday I had the same problem as you, same PDA, 2210 doing exactly the same thing, I searched for the answer and found this, did you ever sort the problem out? If its any help my error message said that a port was open and it couldnt synch with destop PC <it was in the car at the time running Tom Tom Navigater> Even when I went into Settings. memory and programmes running and closed it down the error message kept reappearing and eventually locked up TTN Howard

If you mean that activesync on the PPC starts up on its own and tries to sync then you may have activesync on the PPC configured to either sync to a server or you have a mobile schedule setup to sync at a given interval.
Is activesync on the PPC trying to connect a symtom that you are experiencing?

Yes the PPC trying to connect is what is happening.
I have never set up active synch to connect at a given interval either to a server or configured it to synch to a mobile schedule. It just kept on happening even when I went into programmes running and closed it down. Howard

It is a good idea if you check the settings to see if that is not the case. Open up AS on the PPC and goto Tools -> Options -> Mobile Schedule. Make sure that both dropdowns are set to Manual. If this is set to anything but Manual and on the PC tab you have "Use mobile schedule to sync with this PC" then it will try to sync at the time intervals specified.
Also look at the Server tab and ensure that it is blank.

Thanks very much for the advice. Both drop down menu boxes are set to manual which I would have expected as I have never ever set up a synching schedule.
The funny thing is that today I havent had any problems whatever. The problem seems to have cured itself as mysteriously as it started. <fingers crossed> Howard
