AS 3.71, Outlook, iPaq, XP Quit Synching?
Have been using iPaq with ActiveSync and it was working well until about 2-3 weeks ago. Having trouble trying to sync any of the Outlook folders. The iPaq will sync with the PC if I deselect all of the Outlook folders.
Have tried all types of remedies including uninstall and reinstall of AS 3.71, deleting Partnerships and re-creating. Anyone have any ideas, I'm about to give this iPaq to one of the kids....... Thanks.

I don't have any ideas, but if you are going to give the iPaq away I would be more than happy to take it off your hands

It's that time of year again. I need a new holiday avatar... Is there anyone up to the challenge?

I know this will sound strange, but did you do anything different that might have caused the problem? When mine started doing that, I did what you did, uninstalled AS, and started over. Try deleting the partnership first, then uninstalling AS (latest version, of course) then resyncing. I'm with Cheryl, though, if you're going to give it away, I'm standing in line <VBG>

I really didn't do anything unusual, re-traced my steps and don't remember anything unusual. I have two partnerships, the one at my home works just fine. This one at work went downhill.
I'll retry your suggestion, I'm even going to remove the USB device, unplug and follow the sequences that you recommended. It's interesting now because when I plug into the cradle AS will come up with the proper partnership and begin sync, however as soon as it hits Outlook, Outlook sends out a series of messages starting with "No Profiles have been created, to create a new profile........", then when I press OK it comes up with another message that says "Synchronization cannot be completed because your PIM program cannot be accessed"........?? Well lets see what happens, maybe someone else can offer up an idea or two. PS & BTW: Grandkids get first dibs on the PIM.... ![]()

Don't blame you there....... hope it works out and keep us filled in.

Well Walt, wish I could say I had success. I went yet again through the entire process of removing everything and starting from scratch with installation. NO HELP...
It's really interesting, there are many similar posts up on the Microsoft Pocket PC ActiveSync Forum with the same problems, no solutions. When I asked some of the MS techs on that group, they have no clue. It definitely surrounds the relationship between ActiveSync and Outlook. Oh Well.......wonder how those with the newer iPaqs running the newer MS Windows Mobile 2003 are doing? It may be time to move up... ![]()

Did you find the answer?
Dann,
I have a 4155 and the same thing happened just a couple of days ago. It starts to sync, briefly connects, then pops up an error message saying "synchronization cannot be completed". I've done the same, uninstall, reinstall, remove/replace partnerships. If I set it up in Guest mode, it connects OK (but doesn't sync as a Guest). I've shut down all anitvirus, firewall, extra stuff.....reloaded Internet Explorer, tried both Activesync 3.7 and 3.7.1 but still no sync. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy Quote:

If Coppertrail's suggestion doesn't work, another (fairly drastic suggestion) is to back-up and reinstall Outlook.
To back-up> Export ALL your Outlook messages/ Contacts/ Apps to a back-up file (go to Outlook today> file> export> export to a file> .pst and make sure that you tick the "include subdirectories" box). Uninstall outlook, reboot, reinstall outlook. To get all you messages back> File> import> import from file> and point it at the file you created above. This worked for me when this issue arose with me (but it is possibly not that easy with your work computer )Rob
